Training for Denise began at age eight under Elizabeth Schneider Hanson at Ballet Arts in Beacon, NY where she danced advancing roles in two major productions yearly. She was
awarded a Ford Foundation Grant, as well as full scholarships at both the School of American Ballet and American Ballet Theater in NYC. At fifteen she was casted to perform with the NYC Ballet's 25th Silver Anniversary “The Nutcracker” at Lincoln Center under the direction of (none other than) George Balanchine.
Denise has performed traditional and original works with the former Dutchess and Orange County Ballet Companies, at Princeton Invitationals, at the former Bennett College in
Millbrook, NY (from which she graduated with honors,) the Dancer's Workshop in Burlington, NJ, as well as performing live original choreography for major television through the Miss America Pageant (in 1972.)
Teaching, or the passing of curriculum, dance vocabulary and traditions of the art form from teacher to student has been her main focus for the past...some forty years! She has worked with various southern Dutchess studios, (including returning to Ballet Arts under director Valerie Feit,) also for a non-profit grant-funded program in inner city Newburgh, Orange County, plus more recently in studios in the northern Dutchess area, as well as developing pre-school programs at NDH Wellness Center, collaborating with Funshine Nursery School and “Explore” RHCSD. Denise had also been choreographer for several RHCSD's musical productions, including “The Wizard of Oz” with a cast of 82!
In her own words, Denise, “has a love—no, a passion for the dance, with years of experience, dedication and traditions to share with those who have a willing spirit.”
Lauren Grady began her dance training approximately 29 years ago at the Artistic Dance Academy under Linda Giancaspro (Istvan Rabovsky and Nora Kovach of the Bolshoi Ballet). At the Artistic Dance Academy, she studied Russian Vagonova style ballet and jazz dance. In 1997 she began studying classical ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and lyrical dance at Taps-N-Toes, Inc. After given the opportunity to apprentice with various instructors from Taps-N-Toes, Inc. in 1998, she found her true love… teaching dance. In 2000, Lauren was accepted to the Western Connecticut State University Dance Team. Here, it was Khalda Logan-Eaton (Alvin Ailey American Dance Center and Nicholasleichterdance Modern Dance Company) that introduced Lauren to modern dance. Lauren preformed frequently and choreographed several pieces for the team. She was even awarded the Coaches Recognition Award in 2003. Since 1999, Lauren has instructed children from ages 2 and up in various dance forms including: creative movement, classical ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and lyrical dance. Lauren also taught Gymnastics at Karen's World of Gymnastics for 4 year. After teaching in various dance studios, she was inspired by past students to open her own dance studio. Here, Lauren hopes to provide her students with a place filled with joy and encouragement to succeed. Lauren enjoys taking weekly classes locally and at the Broadway Dance Center. When not at the studio, Lauren loves to be home with her two children and husband.
